What Does The Deck Say? October 1, 2021

Universal Waite: The Devil [XV] (reversed), The Lovers [VI] (reversed), & 3 of Wands (reversed). ©US Games Systems, Inc.

Today’s cards: The Devil [XV], reversed; The Lovers [VI], reversed; & 3 of Wands, reversed.

No matter what choice you make, someone is going to be unhappy with your decision. So you have chosen to minimize all risk by making no choice at all, which is a decision in itself. By choosing to “stay out of the game”, you have made yourself into a game piece for someone else to use to their advantage. If you don’t assert yourself and begin working for the outcome you want, you will be used to mitigate someone else’s risk for someone else’s ends and what happens to you will be none of their concern.

The Universal Waite is Mary Hanson-Roberts’s recolored rendition of the Waite-Smith deck. Nearly identical lining is softened by gentle coloring. Some faces have been reworked to be more pleasing to the eye. The Universal Waite Tarot is ©US Games Systems, Inc.

  1. This premise that someone else’s choices is “making yourself” into a game piece-
Fuck, do I strongly disagree with the wording of that.

The someone else within this situation is the one treating the querant like a game piece, but that’s not what the querant *is*. Someone forgets they are a person. Maybe more than one someone.

That seems more like the situation- not the “non” choice, nor even the game being referenced- but the person involved who is mistreating people. Or maybe the querant taking this asshat’s ruthless ambitions over their own discretion.

Why can’t they make a “non” choice? That their originally reasoning (my interpretation of tone) is not “good enough”? That it’s their fault that someone else complicates the consequences of non-involvement? That it’s… (tone again) opportunity??? to be forced into making a different choice than the one they made originally?
That seems more about inter/personal dynamics, than some external focus. I think it works with the cards, too.

Anyways. Please excuse me if this type of comment is inappropriate, or I’m grossly misinterpreting. Feel free to discard and delete it for any reason, as I would not be offended by Noxporium’s discretion.
