You can’t go, though it hurts so much to stay. That perfect thing you had with them is irreparably broken and you have been left amidst the shattered remnants. It’s okay to say “Fuck” or “Shit” at this moment. It’s going to be a while before you can leave the debris behind. Instead of focusing on the sharp pieces and crying towards the unresponsive audience, take the time to tally what good things still remain with you. (And there are good things remaining with you.) You won’t be here forever, after all. When you go, leave the mess behind, and keep the good in your pocket.
