Your beloved patron had sent you on a literal fool’s quest in an attempt to break you. You still have one chance to walk away from this, and that is to recognize that the person (or ideal) you have done all this for isn’t the perfection you had held in your mind’s eye all this time. Fail to see reality for what it is, and you will step “foolishly” into the trap that was custom designed just for you. Walk away, and you will be called a fool for leaving, but it will be the beginning of wisdom.
