They say never look a gift horse in the mouth. I’m telling you to examine everything given to you. Just because it was “given” doesn’t mean there are not consequences for taking it. It is cruel to give a bottle of alcohol to a recovering alcoholic. What kind of gift are you receiving, or giving, that has the potential to undermine what you have worked for? It is not rude to put yourself first.
