What Does The Deck Say? July 29 2017


The Bosch Tarot is a series of collages based on the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch. Using a unique set of meanings that is not derived from Waite, it will sometimes read direct, and sometimes read like a koan. It is a good deck for introspection and examination of internal motives.

Today’s cards: 9 of Wands, The Devil, & 3 of Chalices.

In these advertisement heavy times we live in, we are constantly told that feeling sad is a thing to be avoided at all costs, usually monetary. Buy a beer, buy a car, change your hair color, change your recreation. For every possible unpleasant thought, there is a brighter and happier replacement, usually with an easy payment plan to suit your already burdened budget. Lies. We need to face the unpleasant truths and feel the uncomfortable emotions and reckon with the consequences of our actions and accept that we cannot change all the things we wish we could. Will this mean no more sad feelings? No. It means we face them more whole than we did before, so when you choose to buy the thing, it is because you want to, and not because you are trying to fill a hole you were tricked to perceiving.
