30 Days of Tarot — Day 21: How do you feel when you do readings?
I try not to. It’s not about me. It’s about the Querent and the cards.
Immediately before a reading I’m often anxious. All the usual self-doubting questions flare up along with a heavy dose of “What the hell do I think I’m doing?”. I shuffle until I have worked past those feelings, and have “zoned in” to the cards and the query. I do my best to remove my personal self from the environment because it is not about my ego or making me feel good as a person. As such, during the readings, I really don’t feel.
But after, well, often it’s excitement. “I just did a thing! Look!” If after a series of short readings, or a 8+ card reading, I’ll be tired. The Celtic Cross doesn’t tire me as much because there is little interaction between the cards (in my interpretation of the spread). The Thoth 15 empties me because of the wealth of information to decipher, process, and reword for the Querent to understand.
