30 Days of Tarot — Day 29: Do you have a Tarot mentor? Who are they (in relation to you) and how do they inspire you?

Nope. No mentor, idol, or accepted authority. I have a bad habit of challenging those I’m supposed to accept. ~smiles~

At first I thought I had to learn from “The Masters of Tarot”, but the more I looked at the history of tarot divination and the history of those esteemed masters, I realized those systems would not work for me. I saw the cards just differently enough that I would probably fail the tarot courses, or feel unnecessarily restricted.

That’s not to say I did not have inspiration from others. Crowley inspired me to trust myself and not walk lockstep with tradition for tradition’s sake. A close friend inspired me to listen to my intuition when it differed from what the books and websites repeated. Lee Bradford inspired me to continue working out my own understanding of the cards and helped reveal to me that what I make of tarot is what I make of tarot. None of them are mentors, but they have all had an influence.
