30 Days of Tarot: Day Thirty

30 Days of Tarot — Day 30: Do you practice any other forms of divination? If so, what is it, and do you use them alongside the Tarot as to gain more information and insight or as something separate entirely?

The use of poker playing cards (including Jokers), the Baraja Española (Spanish playing cards), Lenormand cards, and the casting of lots.

I usually don’t mix systems for most divinations. If there is a nuance that I or the Querent is completely hung up on, I’ll switch systems then to further define and elucidate the point of contention before returning to the original reading. Each divination system “speaks” a different language. What is barely communicated in one system can be expounded on clearly in another.

So the different sets of tarot meanings are akin to different dialects of English. Playing cards are computer code Esperanto, the Baraja Española is fluid Spanish, and the Lenormand is stuffy French.

When I am learning a new system, I will use an “old standby” regularly to discover the quirks of the new system. In a sense, using the old to determine and/or verify the meanings of the new.
